The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), previously named the Alberta Provincial Nomination Program is a program that facilitates the immigration of skilled workers and the transfer of experience to address skill shortages within the Alberta economy by expediting the landed immigrant status process. It is administered by the Ministry of Employment and Immigration on behalf of the Government of Alberta.

No. There is no fee required for submitting an application to the AINP.

Yes. The decision to apply to both programs is up to you. However, depending on the processing status of the Skilled Worker Class application for permanent residence, there may or may not be an advantage to applying to both programs.

Under the AINP employer-driven stream, you must have accepted an offer or permanent, full-time employment with an Alberta employer. If you do not have an Alberta employer or a job offer, you may wish to explore the AINP's Family Stream or Strategic Recruitment Stream.

The candidate is being evaluated according to the following criteria: • Related education; • Related work experience; • Qualifications that are recognized, or required, by industry standards and associations to work in Alberta; • Ability to settle in Alberta;

Yes. As a candidate for a provincial nomination, you must be fully qualified for the job and meet all licensing and regulatory requirements before applying to the AINP. You must provide proof of your qualifications (i.e.: photocopies of all required licenses and registrations).

If an employer has a probationary period for their employees, a candidate must first successfully complete this probationary period prior to nomination. Otherwise, the AINP requires that: • As a Skilled Worker, you must have accepted an offer for permanent, full-time employment with your Alberta employer. You may require a valid work permit for certain occupations. • As an International Graduate, you must have accepted an offer for permanent, full-time employment with your Alberta employer, have a valid work permit and be employed for at least six (6) months with your Alberta employer. • As a Semi-Skilled Worker, you must have accepted an offer for permanent, full-time employment with your Alberta employer, have a valid work permit and be employed for at least six (6) months with your Alberta employer.

It is not guaranteed that your AINP application will be assessed prior to the work permit expiry. Employers and candidates should be aware of AINP Processing Times. The AINP does not grant priority processing for applications where work permits are due to expire soon.

The AINP will accept IELTS/TEF test scores obtained within the past five years.

The AINP will accept either the general or the academic version.

You must submit your application to CIC within 180 days from the date on which your nomination is issued. The nomination package includes instructions showing the date by which you must submit your application to CIC. CIC may ask you to submit additional information in support of your application for permanent residence.
