Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program is a government immigration program that selects applicants who demonstrate they have the potential and the desire to immigrate and settle themselves and their families in the Canadian province of Manitoba.

Under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, you may qualify under one of the following categories:

MPNP for Skilled Workers

The MPNP for Skilled Workers is locally driven and based on the needs of Manitoba employers. We select internationally trained and experienced workers who have the skills needed in the local labour market, and nominate them to receive Canadian permanent resident visas to settle and work in Manitoba.

There are two pathways to Manitoba

Skilled Workers in Manitoba

Applications are accepted from qualified temporary foreign workers and international student graduates who are currently working in Manitoba and have been offered a permanent job with their Manitoba employer.

Skilled Workers Overseas

Applications are accepted from qualified skilled workers who can demonstrate a strong connection to the province through family or friends, past education or employment, or by invitation of the MPNP, and be assessed sufficient points for five eligibility factors – age, English proficiency, work experience, education and adaptability.

MPNP for Business

The Provincial Nominee Program for Business allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified business people and farm owners from around the world who have the intent and ability to move to Manitoba and establish or purchase a business or farm or become partners in an existing business.

To qualify for the program interested applicants must have:

  • minimum verifiable personal net worth of C$350,000
  • have a minimum three years of successful business ownership and management experience or a minimum three years of executive-level experience as senior manager of a business; and
score a minimum of 60 points in the Adaptability Assessment Matrix.

Thee applicant must also be prepared to:
  • attend an interview with a MPNP-B officer
  • make a minimum equity investment in Manitoba of C$150,000;
  • reside in Manitoba along with their dependent family members

The applicant may have to:

  • conduct an Exploratory Visit to Manitoba (at least 5 full business days).
  • provide the results of a language competency test to demonstrate language proficiency

If your application for nomination is approved by Manitoba, you will be required to make a C$100,000 Deposit to the Government of Manitoba, guaranteeing that you will live in Manitoba and start or purchase of a business or farm in Manitoba within two years of obtaining your permanent resident visa and landing in Manitoba. The deposit will be refunded without interest to you when the investment is made, your business or farm is operational and you are living in Manitoba.

Farm Strategic Recruitment Initiative (FSRI)

The FSRI is for individuals with proven farm business experience, sufficient available capital to invest, and who intend to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba. It is expected that successful applicants of the FSRI will establish a farm business in rural Manitoba producing primary products that is consistent with the province’s current farm industry. The type of operation and investment must correlate with Provincial statistics and be relevant to Manitoba’s farm industry. Agri-business operations not producing primary products may qualify under the Business Program criteria.

To qualify under the program applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • have a minimum verifiable personal net worth of CDN$350,000.
  • have a minimum of three years farm business management or farm ownership and operation experience supported by verifiable documents.Have a minimum of three (3) years of farm ownership experience, or three (3) years farm management background.
  • demonstrate adaptability, specifically relating to practical farming skills, technical knowledge and experience in technological based farming practices that will transfer directly to Manitoba’s current primary farm production industry.Have conducted a visit to Manitoba for a minimum of seven (7) days to investigate farming opportunities and Manitoba's quality of life prior to applying.

The applicant must also:

  • conduct an Exploratory Visit to Manitoba (at least 5 full business days).
  • attend and conduct an interview upon request of a MPNP-B officer

The applicant must also be prepared to:

  • make an Eligible Farm Business Investment in rural Manitoba; and
  • reside in Manitoba along with his/her dependent family members.If your application for nomination is approved by Manitoba, you will be required to make a CDN$75,000 Deposit to the Government of Manitoba, guaranteeing that you will live in Manitoba and start or purchase a farm in Manitoba within two years of obtaining your permanent resident visa and landing in Manitoba. The deposit will be refunded without interest to you when the farm investment described in your application is made, your farm is operational and you are living in Manitoba.
